Morgan Run

Meet Our Pros

Tom Zeman, Director of Tennis

USPTA teaching pro, Tom Zeman has been with Morgan Run for 14 years. With over 25 years of teaching experience under his visor, 6 at Kapalua Resort, Tom believes that a traditional approach to teaching tennis is the best when working with all levels and ages. “Juniors absorb information so quickly; they’re a pleasure to teach. Many adults are interested in improving and refining their games, and helping them succeed is satisfying.”

Tom maintains that teaching a variety of skill levels expands his own ability as a teacher. He teaches the whole sport of tennis, not just how to hit the ball. In 1991 he coached and trained Morgan Run’s 4.0 USPTA Women’s League team who achieved the third-place trophy at the USA National Championships. In 2002 Tom received the USTA Coach of the Year Award from the San Diego District.

A long time supporter of the USTA, Tom continues the club's tradition of hosting a senior tournament, currently the USTA Men’s 80-85 National Hardcourt Championships. Several public NTRP rating clinics and the USA Spring League North County Play-offs are also held at Morgan Run under his guiding eye.

Peter Herrmann, USPTA Teaching Professional

Think you have the best game? What to challenge a Pro? Well, Peter is your man! He has been ranked number one in San Diego in doubles 4.0 and now 4.5, four times in a row. Where did this drive come from and why a passion to teach? We guess it started when a young boy of 10 won 2 national championships and a national doubles title while going to Bonita Vista Junior High. From there he went on to be ranked 350 in THE WORLD in singles and number one in San Diego. (There’s the drive.) Then while working as a stockbroker he got the opportunity to be an assistant coach at the University of San Diego. He married a wonderful gal named Nicole Elliott who gave him two amazing children (there’s the passion).

Stop in and meet our Professional Staff. We hope that you or your family have an opportunity to not train with these great men. We know that your tennis skills will only improve and you will have fun while you are at it.
