Morgan Run
Morgan Run Resort & Club is located next to a sub-division of Rancho Santa Fe known as Whispering Palms, and is located in the heart of an area rich in heritage in the San Dieguito Valley, approximately 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. In 1960, Roy Canady, a nationally know building contractor and golf course builder, purchased 300 acres and named the area “Whispering Palms”, which was described as “an area of unlimited sunshine and tropical climate.”
In 1965, 18 holes of the golf course were designed and constructed by Henry and David Rainville, Inc. The East Course opened in 1973, making Whispering Palms Country Club a 27-hole Course. The Club was owned and operated by Ted Vallas for 23 years, and built as Whispering Palms Country Club to help support the development of the surrounding community. Whispering Palms Country Club added a resort component in 1975 with the creation of the first guestrooms. In 1993, the name was changed to Morgan Run by Cobblestone Properties, who purchased the Club from Ted Vallas. Jay Moorish redesigned the North and South Courses in 1996.
In 1999, ClubCorp based in Dallas, Texas purchased the property from Cobblestone Properties and turned the then-existing Membership into a private Club in November of 1999. Since that time, Morgan Run Resort & Club has continually evolved as a Private Country Club, a Boutique hotel/Resort, a Conference Center, and as an exclusive destination location.
